Nostalgic rides in the rack and pinion railway in 2014
The Tanvald Railway Association has prepared many nostalgic rides for you in 2014. Most of them will take place on the rack and pinion railway from Tanvald to Kořenov and Harrachov. You can look forward to unique rack and pinion locomotives, historical carriages, a bar carriage and a historical motor coach. Some nostalgic trips will also involve the use of a steam engine.
The special trains on our steepest line (Tanvald - Kořenov – Harrachov) will be pulled by one of two preserved unique Class T426.0 rack and pinion locomotives, known as “Austrians”. The trains will include Balm passenger carriages from the 1960s, a historical M240.056 motor coach known as a “Singer” and a Balm Bistro buffet car. The 310.0134 steam locomotive, nicknamed the “Coffee Mill”, will pull a train consisting of historical Ce carriages on 5th and 6th July.
As is the case every year, an interesting accompanying program has also been prepared at the station in Kořenov. The narrow gauge mine railway will also be in operation.
The Liberec-Tanvald line will undergo reconstruction work from 5th August 2014. The special trains on the rack and pinion railway will therefore start at the station in Desná. A replacement bus service will run between Tanvald and Desná.
The Tanvald Railway Association is also able to organise special trains according to your wishes and not only on the rack and pinion railway. You will find contact information on these pages.

Saturday 2.8.2014 – Norway Day on the rack and pinion railway, an exhibition of model trains
Program: a tasting session with specialities from Norwegian cuisine, an exhibition of model trains and model rail yards, a mini-festival of regional bands.
Route: Prague – Mladá Boleslav – Turnov – Železný Brod – Tanvald – Harrachov and back, Tanvald – Kořenov – Harrachov and back

Due to the track closure, there will be a replacement bus service between the stations in Tanvald and Desná.

Saturday 27.9.2014 – The conclusion of the season on the rack and pinion railway with the Krakonoš
